Day 1: Ngorongoro Crater

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Arusha early and travel to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. We will travel up the escarpment of the great African Rift Valley through lush rainforest up to the rim of the crater. We arrive at the crater rim lookout for a spectacular view of the Crater before descending over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife and the variety of habitats in this amazing natural area. Animals inside the crater include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippopotamus, and African elephants. There is a dense population of predators which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard. During our game drive we will visit a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south western corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. The lake is known as Lake Magadi and is home to large flocks of flamingos, hippos and other water birds. We will climb back up the crater wall to the rim and to our accommodation located right on the rim where we will be greeted by a warm fire and delicious meal. Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater –

Central Serengeti After breakfast we proceed towards the Serengeti National Park, leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains,
rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the Nabi Gate where you can refresh while your guide sorts our permits. Upon entry to the Serengeti, we will commence our game drive seeking out lions, cheetah, leopards sleeping in the trees and herds of different antelope species. We will have out packed lunch at the visitor center where there are facilities and cold drinks and a great interpretive walk. We will arrive mid-afternoon at our accommodation, to relax, wind down, wash the dust off and enjoy a sunset drink and exchange stories around the campfire.

Day 3: Central Serengeti – Koga-Tende – North Serengeti

After breakfast, we commence our trip to Koga Tende in North Serengeti and the amazing Mara River migration. This will be approximately 4 hour drive (depending on how many animals we stop and view). We will travel through the Lobo area where we will see non-migrating game like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, lion, leopard and cheetah. Magnificent riverine trees can be found along the river lines and bird life such as kingfishers and fish eagles can be found. Arrive at the Mara Mara Tented Camp for a late hot lunch and rest ready for tomorrows migration experience.

Days 4 + 5: Koga Tende – Northern Serengeti

After breakfast we proceed to the Mara River to premium viewing spots and await the migration of wildebeest and zebra crossing the river and running the gauntlet of hungry crocodiles. We may stay in our premium viewing location for a number of hours waiting for the animals. Get your cameras ready….it will be worth the wait as it will be all action soon. Your guide will be continually updating information via the radio to determine the best viewing locations Depending on the stream of migration, we may choose to go back to the Mara Mara Camp for a hot lunch or if there is a lot of action, a packed lunch will be provided. You guide will accommodate your requirements and discuss your options the night before. Remember this is your safari, so be part of the planning!

Day 6: Kode Tende to Turner Area –Serengeti

After breakfast we leave the Mara River and proceed to the Turner Area in the Serengeti to experience a different area of the Serengeti. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in this area. We will arrive in the mid-afternoon for a much need rest and leisure time. We will be entertained by local Maasai traditional songs, dance and acrobatics around the campfire after dinner which is an experience you won’t forget.

Day 7: Central Serengeti to Arusha

After breakfast, we commence our journey to back in Arusha with game drives en-route. It will be a long drive with a break for lunch at a local café and to use the facilities. Arrive approximately 5pm in Arusha and that marks the end of the tour.
