Day Trip Arusha National Park

Visit Arusha National Park, a beautiful wilderness close to Arusha or Moshi. This park has a mix of landscapes, including rainforests, volcanic craters, alpine meadows, and sparkling lakes, all with Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest peak, in the background. Arusha National Park offers a more personal safari experience with plenty of wildlife, amazing views, and fewer visitors compared to larger parks.

Day to Day Plan

Your day begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha (50min drive) or Moshi (1.5hrs). Enter the park and set off on a game drive, where you’ll quickly spot:

  • Towering giraffes grazing near acacias.
  • Buffalo herds wallowing in the marshes.
  • Troops of colobus monkeys with their flowing black-and-white fur.

Visit the Ngurdoto Crater, a volcanic bowl teeming with animals, then continue to the Momella Lakes, where flamingos paint the shores pink. After a picnic lunch under the shade of a giant fig tree, take a short walk with an armed ranger (optional) through the rainforest one of the few parks allowing walking safaris!

End the day with a final game drive, searching for bushbucks and dik-diks, before returning to Arusha/Moshi by evening.
